Tanja Fajon

Tanja Fajon holds the position of Vice-President of Slovene Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs since June 2022. As of last week (8 October), she was reelected as President of SD Slovenia.

In her 13-year career as Member of European Parliament, where she also served as Vice-Chair of S&D Group during mandate 2014-2019, she has made a name for herself in the Western Balkans, where, among other things, she played a key role in visa liberalization and as an advocate of respect for democracy, rule of law and equality.

Her background is journalism, she was a Brussels correspondent for RTV Slovenia, therefore media freedom, freedom of expression and safety of journalists are at the top of her political agenda.

Leader of the Social Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia.
