Katarina Barley

Katarina Barley, PES Executive Vice-President and Vice-President of the European Parliament, is the SPD´s lead candidate for the 2024 European Elections. In the European Parliament, she is a member of the LIBE Committee and a substitute of the AFET Committee. Previously, she was a member of the German Bundestag from 2013 to 2019, Secretary General of the SPD, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Acting Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, as well as Federal Minister of Justice. Before her time in politics, she worked as a lawyer and judge.
