FRINGE EVENT – Progressive Voices from the EU’s Eastern Neighbours
Friday, 17 October
14:25 – 15:25 Veilingzaal
Organiser: European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity
The aim of this session is to give a platform to progressive colleagues from the EU candidate countries Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine during the PES Congress. We want to draw attention to the current political developments in these three countries, and discuss how EU support and communication can best contribute to the enlargement process — with a particular focus on democratisation, security, and human rights.
- Amy Eaglestone (Leiden University),
The discussion will feature:
- Igor Batog (Foundation for Democracy and Progress, Moldova),
- Tamar Kekenadze (For Georgia),
- Kateryna Lototska (SD Platform, Ukraine),
with a response from
- Tobias Cremer, MEP for the S&D Group.
The session will conclude with a Q&A from the audience.
